1. Prodcut introduction

This radar module is a radar detection module that uses millimeter wave radar technology to achieve human biological perception and human respiratory detection. By synchronously sensing the Doppler parameters of personnel movement and physiological parameters of personnel, wireless perception of personnel status in specific scenarios can be achieved.

• 60 GHz millimeter wave radar sensor;

• Antenna FOV: 120 degrees horizontally and 120 degrees vertically;

• Not affected by temperature, humidity, sound, dust, light, etc., suitable for harsh environments;

• Can achieve detection with or without human presence and monitoring of respiratory and heartbeat rates;

• The maximum detection distance is 1.5 meters, and only one person is supported for detection;

• Universal UART communication interface, providing communication protocol;

3.2 Module wiring and related instructions

The module adopts a 1.5 mm 1 × 4 male pin connector as the interface, corresponding to the port model HC-ZH-4PWT. It can be connected to the module with ZH1.5 mm 1 × 4 wires, and the corresponding wires and pins are shown in the following figure. The pins of the module are GND from left to right, RX，TX，5V。 TX and RX are used for communication with the main control's serial port.

4. Installation method and working mode

The recommended installation method for the module is H, which is the height of the radar from the bed board, and θ, which is the angle between the radar and the horizontal direction. Considering the actual usage scenario of the customer, this product is installed on the wall of the user's bedside, pointing diagonally towards the target's chest cavity. In practical use, the position between the radar and the chest cavity must be maintained within a range of 0.8-1.5 meters, and the chest cavity must be within the detection range of the radar antenna. (Reference value: Radar height H is 0.8 m, θ size is 30 °).

Note: During installation, please try to keep the radar module antenna facing the chest cavity in the normal direction as much as possible. When the module is working, the surface of the module must be ensured to be free of metal cover. Corresponding to human detection, different body positions may affect the radar's operating range, and the radar cannot guarantee high measurement accuracy for all states.

In working mode, the radar periodically provides the presence and movement status of personnel within the current radar detection area, mainly including:

1. Unmanned state;

2. Someone's status;

3. Respiratory rate and heart rate values in a human state;
